How are paper cups processed?

Processing and exploring various processing techniques is very important to us and one of our key functions. â€‹Without our processing techniques, we wouldn't be able to recycle paper cups.

Over the years, we have worked with partners to create innovative and unique processing techniques to successfully recycle used paper cups!

Processed cups

To make recycled products from used paper cups, paper cups need to be processed.

Some of our processing techniques include washing and drying, shredding, creating flakes, pellets or glue or a mix of these!

Lids

Simply Cups accepts and recycles coffee cup lids (plastic and plant-based) at 7-Eleven locations only. The lids collected from 7-Eleven locations are collected alongside paper cups and processed together through Simply Cups.

At all other collection locations, lids are not collected or recycled through Simply Cups. Instead, the lids can be processed through the site’s nominated recycling facility (where accepted).
