Erina Fair
Working towards a carbon neutral future by 2030.
Erina Fair is the largest shopping centre on the Central Coast, serving the local community since 1987. With over 300 specialty stores and major retailers like Myer, Kmart, Big W, Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and Best & Less, it has long been the region’s go-to retail, dining and lifestyle destination.

Erina Fair is more than just a shopping destination; it’s a community hub working actively to reduce its environmental footprint and set a new standard for sustainable operations. Guided by the legacy of the founder of Lendlease, Dick Dusseldorp, sustainability has always been a core principle in how the centre operates and plans for the future.

Sustainability at Erina Fair
Sustainability is embedded in every aspect of Erina Fair’s operations. With a goal to be carbon neutral by 2030, the centre is rolling out a range of impactful initiatives—from reducing water consumption and expanding recycling streams to engaging the community through education and awareness campaigns.
Erina Fair partners with industry associations, tenants, other leading organisations and the local community to drive long-term environmental change. These efforts are not just about compliance—they're about leading by example, creating tangible benefits for people and the planet.
Tackling the coffee cup waste crisis
As part of its commitment to reducing waste, Erina Fair has partnered with Simply Cups to help tackle the environmental impact of single-use coffee cups and takeaway paper cups. Dedicated Simply Cups collection units have been installed throughout the centre, providing both shoppers and retailers with a convenient and responsible way to dispose of their paper cups.

“It’s great to see the shopping centre taking real steps toward sustainability. I always grab a coffee while I’m here, and now I know my cup isn’t just going to waste. It’s a simple change that makes a big difference.”
- Michelle T., regular shopper at Erina Fair
Making every drop count in water conservation
The centre is leading the way in water-saving with the introduction of a new Water Management System which should see the centre save 18,000 kilolitres of water annually, the equivalent of seven 50m Olympic swimming pools.

The new Water Management System will harvest rainwater from the roof of Hoyts Cinema, Erina Ice Arena and the Kmart Mall which will increase the Erina Fair Shopping Centre recycled water storage capacity from 300 kilolitres to 1,700 kilolitres. The water saved will be used to supply non-potable locations (areas which cannot be used for drinking) within the centre such as cooling towers, car wash, toilets not including hand basins, and Erina Ice Arena.

Erina Fair has also implemented several water-saving measures across the centre, which includes:
-
Replacing 14 water-cooled woks with air-cooled versions in Asian restaurants, saving over 25 million litres annually
-
Installing two waterless urinals on trial with intention to roll out throughout the centre if successful
-
Fitting flow-control devices on all basins, reducing water use by up to 60%
-
Disabling auto-flush urinals and using Desert Cubes for low-maintenance alternatives
